What is the dew point The dew point is the temperature the air must reach before it can be cooled, at constant pressure, to achieve a relative humidity of 100, according to the Weather Service. The dew point in this case is much closer to the actual temperature, and only a little drop in temperature can already cause condensation. If at the same temperature the relative humidity is high (there is a lot of water in the air), and the temperature can only drop a little bit before the air becomes saturated, then droplets will form. This means that the difference between the actual temperature and the dew point is large. If the relative humidity is very low, the air contains little water and the temperature can drop further before the air becomes saturated and droplets will form. A relative humidity of 100 indicates the dew point is equal to the current temperature and that the air is maximally saturated with water.
